Upcycling Textile Waste for High-Performance Insulation

At CellON, sustainability is not just about providing eco-friendly materials. It's also about addressing the issue of plastic pollution that already exists. With our innovative technology, we're able to transform non-recyclable textiles that come from the fast-fashion industry into acoustic, fire-retardant thermal insulation

Facts

  • Almost 60% of all clothing material is actually plastic.

  • Textiles can take up to 200+ years to decompose in landfills and release harmful chemicals into the environment as they degrade.

  • Every Second a Truck Load of Clothing is Sent to Landfill or Burnt.

  • As much as 35% of microplastics released into the environment (including ocean) come from synthetic clothing and textiles.

  • 97% of the used textiles collected in Norway are exported for sorting, reuse and recycling in other countries.

  • The EU Commission's 2030 Strategy for sustainable and circular textiles demands that producers take responsibility for their products along the value chain with sufficient capacities for recycling.
